My guide dog, Trigger is a very talented animal. Not only does he perform his duties, as a guide dog with great ability, guiding me round lamp posts and other obstacles, he is also a skilled magician. I first noticed Trigger’s ability as a magician some months ago. I was stuck in a meeting which went on for just over two hours. Suddenly I became aware that Trigger’s lead had disappeared (well a good part of it had)! My talented four-legged friend has performed the same magic trick on at least five occasions, most recently as I sat with a friend enjoying a pint, in a Teddington pub on Thursday evening. Putting my hand down I became aware that Trigger’s lead had vanished into thin air, well at least 90 percent of it had. All that was left was a tiny fragment of leather plus the metal parts of the lead. So talented is my dog that I’m thinking of going on stage with him. I can imagine the applause as the lead vanishes magically. Well, actually as you will no doubt have surmised by now Trigger is no magician, rather he is a leather eating beast with an appetite for leads!
At present I’m working Trigger using a metal lead so unless he develops steel fangs there should be no more lead chewing! I’d be interested to hear from other dog owners who have had similar experiences.
